YMCA of Ithaca and Tompkins County awarded multiple grants aiming at improving community health

ITHACA, NY (607NewsNow) — The YMCA of Ithaca and Tompkins County has been selected as the recipient of the 2026 Health Equity Innovation Award from Excellus BlueCross BlueShield.

The grant helps nonprofit organizations improve community health outcomes through reducing health disparities. Additionally, the YMCA has received funding through the Taste of the Finger Lakes Grant as well as a YMCA of the USA Food Security grant.

We are honored to be recognized with these awards,” said Christie Thornton, CEO of the YMCA of Ithaca and Tompkins County. “This funding allows us to reduce barriers for individuals and families facing food insecurity and chronic health conditions, while expanding access to programs that support long-term health and well-being.”
