ITHACA, NY (607NewsNow) — The Ithaca-born band X Ambassadors is returning to their roots for two special hometown shows at the State Theatre of Ithaca.

Formed in 2009 by brothers Sam Nelson Harris and Casey Harris while still in high school, and later joined by drummer Adam Levin, the band has always kept Ithaca close to their heart. Their breakout came with their debut full-length album VHS in 2015, which includes the wildly popular singles “Renegades” and “Unsteady.”

To mark ten years since VHS, the band is launching VHS(X), a reimagined version of the record, breathing new life into tracks that defined their sound. This Friday and Saturday, they will bring that project home with back‑to‑back performances:

  • Friday, September 19, 2025 at 8:00 PM
  • Saturday, September 20, 2025 at 8:00 PM

Both shows will take place at the historic State Theatre of Ithaca. Expect a mix of VHS classics and snapshots of their growth over the past decade.

Playing the State Theatre is especially meaningful for X Ambassadors. The venue is tied to their early days where they played local gigs in Ithaca, building the foundation for their career. For longtime fans, this is more than just a concert, it’s a full-circle moment. And for the band, it’s a chance to reconnect with the community that first supported them.

If you’re in the area, these performances are not to be missed. It’s a celebration of a decade’s worth of music, memories, and the enduring bond between a band and its hometown. Find more information on the State Theatre website here.
