Troopers in Homer issue 59 tickets during Operation Hard Hat

HOMER, NY (607NewsNow) — A state police detail in Homer saw nearly 60 citations issued.

Troopers posing as road crew workers Monday, May 4 wrote 33 speeding tickets, three for failing to move over, 10 using an electronic device, and three for not wearing seatbelts. Operation Hard Hat cracks down on reckless driving in work zones.

“As part of the detail, State Troopers are embedded within an active work zone, often dressed as construction workers, to observe and identify motorists with risky behavior. Once a violation is observed, uniformed Troopers in the area are advised and issue the appropriate citations,” authorities stated.

In total, 59 citations were written by troopers. The full breakdown is below:
