ITHACA, NY (607NewsNow) — Several events in Tompkins County are receiving grants.

On Oct. 21, the Tompkins County Legislature awarded funding to eight celebrations. Legislator Greg Mezey said the funding comes from the Community Celebrations Grant Program.

“This is one of the ways that our tourism and county room tax dollars support quality of life throughout the community,” he said.

The largest award of $1,670 is going to the Village of Groton for the Cabin Fever Festival. Other awardees include the Ithaca Health Alliance’s 20th anniversary art project and the Ithaca Children’s Garden’s Festival of Fire & Ice.
