ITHACA, NY (607NewsNow) – The Tompkins County Board of Elections is preparing to relocate.

The Board of Elections is moving from the Annex C building at 128 East Buffalo Street in Ithaca to make room for demolition and construction at the Center of Government project site.

On August 24, the Board will fully reopen at 214 West State Street in the former location of the Tompkins County Office for the Aging (COFA), which, along with the Department of Assessment, recently moved to a temporary location at 31 Dutch Mill Road in Lansing.

Tompkins County Election Commissioners Alanna Congdon and Stephen Dewitt said it’s important to complete the move ahead of upcoming elections.

“With the November election approaching, our focus is on making sure voters and candidates know where to find us and that election services continue throughout the move.  Beginning August 24, voters can visit us at 214 W. State St., and our staff will be ready to assist with registration, absentee voting, candidate information, and other election-related needs.”

Staffing at the Board of Elections will be limited this Thursday, August 20, and Friday, August 21, while crews move equipment and office materials. Residents are encouraged to call ahead at (607) 274-5422 if planning to visit these days. More information is available here.
