Tippy Toes Apple Pear Banana baby food recalled for health risks

ITHACA, NY (607NewsNow) – A baby food product is being recalled.

According to the FDA, 2-packs of Tippy Toes Apple Pear Banana fruit puree could contain a substance that causes adverse health problems over time.

Officials say the product may have elevated levels of patulin, a naturally occurring mycotoxin produced by molds that grow in certain fruits. Long-term exposure can lead to immune suppression, nerve damage, headache, fever, and nausea, though no illnesses or injuries have been reported to date.

Tippy Toes products are distributed nationwide in grocery stores, including Aldi and Wegmans, in every state but Alaska. The product may also have been distributed to U.S. Territories in Guam and Puerto Rico.

Customers with recalled baby food are advised to discontinue use and return it to the place of purchase for a refund. If your child has ingested the product, contact a healthcare provider if health concerns arise.
