ITHACA, NY (607NewsNow) – You can learn all about voting in Ithaca.

On October 16, the Tompkins County Public Library (TCPL) is hosting a discussion on voting.

It’s the second installment of the library’s four-part series called “The Constitution – Rights to Know,” which examines critical aspects of the document, particularly in light of contemporary controversies and challenges.

This meeting will focus on the Voting Rights Act of 1965, recent challenges to the right to vote, and the process and technology of modern elections.

Tompkins County Elections Commissioners Allana Congdon and Stephen DeWitt are participating, and David Bateman is leading the discussion. Bateman is an associate professor in the Government Department and the Jeb E Brooks School of Public Policy at Cornell University.

The event takes place from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday in the Borg Warner room at TCPL. It will also be streamed live on the library’s YouTube page.

The third discussion in The Constitution series is set for November 20 and will focus on immigration. The fourth discussion is set for December 18 and will focus on citizenship.

In related news, Kat Savage was recently named interim director.
