ITHACA, NY (607NewsNow) – The State Theatre of Ithaca is receiving funding.

On August 28, officials announced that the State has won a $20,000 grant from The Preservation League of New York.

The money will be used to support a building conditions report. The study will help identify any repairs or potential upgrades in the historic building and establish a capital improvement plan.

“The State Theatre of Ithaca is thrilled to receive support from The Preservation League for this important building conditions report,” said State Theatre Executive Director Doug Levine. “We have not completed a comprehensive building study since the formation of this organization in 2009. As we near our 100th anniversary, it is time for a comprehensive building plan study of the uses and structural needs of the historic State Theatre.”

A contracted third-party will inspect the building’s interior and exterior and propose corrective actions and recommended improvements, including any cost-saving, energy-efficient measures.

It’s part of nearly $350,000 awarded to 31 applicants in 20 counties.
