ITHACA, NY (607NewsNow) – Major paving work is scheduled in New York next year.

On October 22, Governor Kathy Hochul announced that the DOT will undertake 180 additional projects in 2026, totaling over 2,100 new miles of reconstruction. Combined with initiatives already on the calendar, it’s a historic amount of road work.

The $600 million investment will touch several local state roads.

Over $14 million is headed to two resurfacing projects in Tompkins County next year. Crews will pave Route 13 from the north city line in Ithaca to the area of George Road in Dryden, and Route 89 from the Ithaca city line to Seneca County.

Route 11 will be resurfaced from the Broome County line to Homer in a $2.5 million project. Projects are scheduled in neighboring counties as well, including $650,000 to resurface Route 14 from Montour Falls to Watkins Glen, and over $6 million for work on Route 34 and 34B in Cayuga County.

“We’re deeply grateful to Governor Hochul and the New York State Department of Transportation for this historic investment in our roads,” said Cayuga County Legislative Chair Jonathan Anna. “The resurfacing and rehabilitation of Routes 34 and 34B will make travel safer, strengthen connections between our rural communities, and support the local economy that depends on these vital corridors. This is a major win for Cayuga County residents and businesses alike.”
