Tompkins SIREN alert system sees steady increase in participation

ITHACA, NY (607NewsNow) – More residents are participating in Tompkins County’s emergency alert system.

SIREN users have increased by more than 2,300 through the first eight months of 2025, with the number of subscriptions over 39,000, as of August.

Tompkins County Department of Emergency Response (TCDoER) Director Michael Stitely says they’ve been getting the word out.

Launched in 2022, the SIREN Alert system sends real-time emergency updates to residents via text, email, and/or voice message. It is customizable by location.
