Owego FD honors longtime member at annual banquet

OWEGO, NY (607NewsNow) – The Owego Fire Department is paying tribute to a lifetime member.

On October 18, Richard Franz was recognized for his 75 years of service at the department’s annual banquet.

The 93-year-old joined the Owego FD at age 18 and has continued to serve as a mentor and liaison. Franz also received a proclamation from Owego Village Mayor Michael Baratta III. The department handed out several other awards, including Firefighter of the Year, which went to Richard VanHall, who the department says “defines excellence.”
