NEWFIELD, NY (607NewsNow) – A fatal accident is under investigation in Tompkins County.

On October 5, deputies were called to a two-vehicle crash with serious injuries around 11:15 a.m. in Newfield.

According to the Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office, a Toyota 4-Runner was traveling south on West Danby Road when a Honda CR-V, traveling east on Decker Road, attempted to cross West Danby Road and was struck in the driver’s side door.

The driver of the CR-V, 31-year-old Shaquille Stuttle, of Newfield, was pronounced dead at the scene. The operator of the 4-Runner was airlifted to a trauma center and has since been released.

Final determinations are pending further review of the crash analysis from the New York State Police Accident Reconstruction Team.
