MARATHON, NY (607NewsNow) – No injuries after a close call in Cortland County.
On September 18, State Police were called to Interstate 81 in Marathon around 6:20 a.m. for a tanker truck fire.
Troopers say the driver was traveling south when the truck, which was hauling oil, caught fire. The driver was able to maneuver the truck into a U-turn area and call 911.
The Marathon Fire Department responded to the scene to extinguish the blaze.
Troopers from the Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Unit assisted on scene. The Broome County Sheriff’s Office, Morey’s Towing and the New York State Department of Transportation also assisted on scene.
