NWS issues wind advisory for Southern Tier

ITHACA, NY (607NewsNow) – Prepare for potential high winds in the Southern Tier.

The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a wind advisory for much of the region, including Tompkins, Cortland, Tioga, Seneca, Southern Cayuga, Onondaga, Steuben, Schuyler, and Broome Counties.

Meteorologists say widespread power outages are possible, with winds of 25-35 mph and wind gusts up to 60 mph. Travel could be difficult, particularly for high-profile vehicles that are taller and have a large surface area.

The high wind watch runs from 4 p.m. today to 7 a.m. Thursday, November 6.  Read more from the National Weather Service here.
