New Stewart Performance gym in Groton set to offer group fitness classes, personal training, and more

GROTON, NY (607NewsNow) — Located at 555 Cortland Road in Groton, Moravia native Jeremy Stewart is opening a new fitness facility with co-owner Lee McDonald, with an open house taking place on Saturday, August 15th.

A lifelong athlete with a bachelor’s degree in exercise science, Stewart has a plethora of experience in fitness. Having played football at SUNY Morrisville and then overseas in Germany, training and teaching MMA where he developed a love for fitness instructing, working as a personal trainer at Cornell and eventually becoming the Associate Director of Fitness Centers there, as well as coaching youth and varsity football for Moravia, Stewart aims to bring his love of health and wellness to the area he grew up in.

“Where we set ourselves apart is accountability. When it’s just you, it’s hard to hold yourself accountable when it comes to fitness. Coming in here, there’s something for everyone that can help them achieve those goals, whatever they may be,” said Stewart.

With two 1,600 square foot rooms, the gym has cardio equipment, various cable-based strength training equipment, squat racks, benches, dumbbells, and functional training equipment such as kettlebells, medicine balls, battle ropes, and more. Group fitness classes, personal training, and nutrition consultations will also be offered, giving clients the opportunity to try different styles of workouts and develop a plan for their fitness journey.

Hosting an open house at the gym on Saturday, August 15th, two free group fitness classes will be offered to give attendees a taste of what’s to come with the new facility.

“From 12:00 p.m. to 12:30 p.m. and from 2:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., we’ll have two free bootcamp style classes for people to participate in. Additionally, those who stop by can get a feel for the gym before they sign up for a membership. The first 50 members to sign up for a membership will get a Founding Member lifetime price, locking them into the discounted rate they get upon signing up.”

After the open house on August 15th, Stewart Performance aims for a slow opening starting on August 31st as Stewart continues to coach youth and varsity football in the area. The facility will be offering several types of memberships, which are as follows:

  • Open Gym – $49 per month, access to gym anytime during business hours.
  • Group Fitness – $69 per month, unlimited group fitness class access.
  • Unlimited Group Fitness and Open Gym – $89 per month, both access to gym anytime during business hours and unlimited access to group fitness classes.
  • Student (14+) – $30 per month, unlimited, all programs.
  • Senior – $39 per month, unlimited, all programs.

Varying degrees of personal training packs, family memberships, and nutrition and fitness consultation will also be available, find the full list and pricing of each tier of memberships on the Stewart Performance website here.
