ITHACA, NY (607NewsNow) – Lawmakers are lobbying for action in Albany.
On September 29, Assemblymember Anna Kelles and others will call on Governor Kathy Hochul to sign legislation establishing the Rural Suicide Prevention Council within the New York State Office of Mental Health.
The bipartisan bill A8434/S3610A was sponsored in the State Assembly by Kelles, and the State Senate by Senator Pam Helming. It passed both houses of the state legislature earlier this year.
Kelles will be joined by State Assembly colleagues Phil Palmesano, Jo Anne Simon, Joe Sempolinksi, and longtime rural suicide prevention advocate Joe Tobia.
The event starts at 1 p.m. at the Ithaca Downtown Conference Center.
