ITHACA, NY (607NewsNow) – A deer is alive and well thanks to first responders in Ithaca.

On December 10, the Ithaca Fire Department responded to the Cayuga Lake inlet near Cass Park to assist DEC & Park Police with an animal rescue.

The deer could not regain its footing on the slippery surface and was stuck on the ice. Using ice rescue gear and an animal rescue device, crews were able to bring the deer back to shore safely.

The Ithaca Fire Department says the animal was cold but uninjured, and “carried on with its day” after the rescue.
