HOMER, NY (607NewsNow) – New York is supporting local water infrastructure projects.

On December 19, Governor Kathy Hochul announced over $450 million in aid for 83 improvement projects across the state.

The money will be used to help fund projects that protect public health, strengthen community resilience, and ensure that New Yorkers have access to clean, safe water.

In Cortland County, the Village of Homer has been awarded $2,225,300 toward a new water storage tank. Governor Hochul says the grants will help communities undertake essential projects without passing unsustainable costs to residents and businesses.

In related news, Freeville is getting $4.8 million through the program to help bring its outdated wastewater treatment plant into compliance with its discharge permit.
