DRYDEN, NY (607NewsNow) – A Guthrie initiative for local students is expanding in the Southern Tier.

Now in its second year, the Game Plan: Career in Sports Medicine program will be offered at three locations this summer, including Dryden and Corning.

The day-long workshop provides practical experience in several disciplines in the growing field, including strength and conditioning, athletic training, physical therapy, sports nutrition, sports medicine/orthopedic surgery, and EMS.

Guthrie Athletic Trainer Zach Spencer created the program, which had 40 participants in its inaugural year.

“Many students are interested in healthcare but aren’t sure which path fits them best,” said Spencer. “We created ‘Game Plan’ to highlight the diversity of sports medicine and give them the hands-on experience they need to make informed decisions about their future.”

Session Dates and Locations

  • Broome Community College – June 29
  • Corning Community College – July 10
  • TC3 – July 17
