ITHACA, NY (607NewsNow) — Nearly a month after the Seneca St. parking garage was closed temporarily for safety reasons, Ithaca Mayor Robert Cantelmo says it is now closed permanently

It’ll save Ithacans money, Cantelmo said.

After the garage is dismantled and demolished, Acting City Manager Dominick Recckio tells 607 News Now it’s going be a lengthy process to figure out how to utilize that space.

For now, sidewalks on sidewalks on N. Tioga, E. Seneca, and N. Aurora Streets will remain closed.

During the May 6 Common Council meeting, Recckio announced the permanent closure of the Seneca St. garage.
