CORTLAND, NY (607NewsNow) – The Cortland Police Department’s Shop with a Cop program is getting a boost.

On November 10, the Cortland Elks Lodge 748 donated $2,000 to support the campaign.

The Shop with a Cop initiative aims to help families in need during the holidays. A child experiencing hardships is nominated and given money to go gift shopping with a Cortland Police officer. They are expected to purchase a present for someone else in their family as well.

All nominees must currently reside in the City of Cortland. If your child has been selected in the past, Cortland PD asks that you refrain from nominating them again.

Nominations must be submitted here by November 16.
