ITHACA, NY (607NewsNow) — Cornell University has opened a new indoor adaptive challenge course in the Noyes Community Recreation Center.

The course offers equipment that allows use for people with limited mobility, including those who use a wheelchair. The first indoor adaptive challenge course in New York state, the project was funded by an endowment created by the Noyes family in 1970, as well as a grant from New York state.

One of two challenge courses open at Cornell, the course replaces the decommissioned indoor course in Barton Hall, expanding on Cornell’s accessible options for fitness and recreation. Those looking for more accessible fitness options can also try adaptive climbing classes at the Lindseth Climbing Center in Bartels Hall, which uses special equipment that can accommodate those who use wheelchairs, have prosthetic limbs, and other limitations on mobility.

To learn more about the new course, visit Cornell’s site here for more information.
