Cops, Kids & Toys accepting applications and donations through November

TOMPKINS COUNTY, NY (607NewsNow) — Those interested in receiving toys to give their children this Christmas can apply to Cops, Kids & Toys until December 1st.

Supported by volunteers from every law enforcement agency in Tompkins County, the Tompkins County Probation Department, and multiple local businesses and community volunteers, the number of families helped each year continues to grow.

Entirely self-funded, the organization hosts several fundraisers throughout the year to support their cause. In November, two of the fundraisers taking place in Ithaca are as follows:

  • November 15th: Ithaca Eagles Hosting Chicken BBQ Fundraiser for CKT
    • When: Noon to 3 p.m.
    • Where: 161 Cecil Malone Drive, Ithaca, NY
    • What: Chicken BBQ meal for $12 donation, raffles all day
  • November 29th: Fill the Truck Day
    • When: 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
    • Where: Target, 40 Catherwood Road, Ithaca, NY
    • What: Volunteers and local law enforcement partners will be collecting new, unwrapped toys to support families in need across Tompkins County outside of Target

Those looking to donate toys can start dropping off new, unwrapped toys to various donation bins around Tompkins County starting on November 1st through December 1st. Find a complete list of donation bin locations here. Toys can also be dropped off to the Cops, Kids & Toys office by appointment only.

Chair of Cops, Kids, & Toys Bill Apgar says the organization is continuously working with the community to stay aware of families in need.
