ITHACA, NY (607NewsNow) — A convicted felon faces a return to prison.
The Justice Department says 38-year-old Zachary Jackson pleaded guilty Tuesday, Aug. 26 to drug and weapons charges. Jackson admitted to selling cocaine last November in Ithaca and Auburn and carrying a Glock handgun as protection. Jackson, who lives in Ithaca, had a prior felony conviction for assault in the last 10 years.
“Drug dealers, especially ones with violent criminal histories like this defendant, should know that law enforcement in the Northern District of New York will find them and put them behind bars. Thanks to the investigative efforts of local agencies and the DEA, our communities are now safe from this dealer, his drugs, and his gun,” acting US Attorney John Sarcone III said.
He’s facing at least a decade in prison this December on charges that include possessing with intent to distribute cocaine and possessing a firearm as a convicted felon.
