Center for the Arts of Homer schedules series of Art x AI panel discussions

HOMER, NY (607NewsNow) — The Center for the Arts of Homer is opening up a conversation about the intersection of art and artificial intelligence.

Starting on Thursday, March 19th at 7:00 p.m., a series of panel discussions and public conversations will delve into the confluence of AI and the arts. Visual art, music, writing, performance, design, and how artists are using, questioning, resisting, and reshaping AI and what it means for the future of the arts will be the foundation of the discussion.

Panelists include:

  • Adam Peruta: Associate professor at the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University and the director for the advanced media management master’s program.
  • Rebecca Ruige Xu: Professor of Computer Art at Syracuse University whose research explores the intersections of AI, data visualization, experimental animation, and interactive media.
  • Ruth Martinez-Yepes: A Colombian transmedia artist and a Cornell Ph.D. candidate in the Information Science program who is working on art-based research. 
  • Crystal Lyon: Teacher of Graphic Communications in the Career and Technical Education Program at OCM BOCES, Cortlandville. 

Joe Salzone, Operations Manager/News Director for the Cayuga Media Group and host of 607 This Morning on WHCU Radio, will be the event’s moderator.
