CONKLIN, NY (607NewsNow) – A traffic stop in Broome County leads to charges for a Tioga County man.

On October 30, State Police pulled over Riley Merrick, of Candor, in the Town of Conklin, for allegedly crossing the center pavement line.

Troopers say the 32-year-old had a small quantity of drugs on him and gave a false name. Investigators believe Merrick gave a false name due to having an active arrest warrant with the Elmira City Police Department.

Merrick is charged with misdemeanor false personation and criminal possession of a controlled substance. He is scheduled to appear in Conklin Town Court on November 13.

Merrick was then turned over to Elmira PD.
