MORAVIA, NY (607NewsNow) – The Cayuga County Health Department has issued a boil water order in Moravia.

On May 13, a water line lost pressure due to a power outage.

Officials say a loss of pressure increases the possibility of harmful microbes in the water. Residents in affected areas are advised to use bottled water or bring their water to a rolling boil for one minute before using it for drinking, making ice, washing dishes, brushing their teeth, or preparing food.

In a statement issued May 14, the health department said the boil order will remain in effect “for the next few days,” and residents will be notified when the order is lifted.

Affected Areas

  • 4947 Skinner Hill Road to 5041 Skinner Hill Road
  • 1888 State Route 38A to 2032 State Route 38A
  • 5073 Dresserville Road to 5117 Dresserville Road
  • 5104 Breeds Road to 5129 Breeds Road

Questions? Call the Village of Moravia at (315) 497-1820, or the Cayuga County Health Department at (315) 253-1560.
