Friday, May 22, marks two years since 22-year-old Christopher Dennis was reported missing on Cayuga Lake.
Friends of the Cornell student and Ithaca native say he ventured off of their campsite in Trumansburg to canoe alone on the lake in the early morning hours.
His canoe was found overturned in the middle of the lake.

Seneca County Sheriff Jack Stenberg says they still consider it an open case.
“Closure is obviously what everybody would like to have happen,” Stenberg said. “We would like to have that happen. It’s kind of an open and pending case, but for the family, closure is the ultimate desire.”
Last year, a team of students and alumni built a permaculture garden on the Cornell campus in honor of Chris Dennis.
Dennis was a 2009 graduate of Ithaca High School and a double-major at Cornell in international agriculture and rural development and communication.
