ITHACA, N.Y. (WHCU) — Tompkins Trust Company and the Tompkins Chamber have announced their Community Hero of the Month Award recipients for July.

This month, Tompkins County School Nurses are being recognized for their significant impact they have made on the community. School nurses have provided students a sense of normalcy throughout the pandemic. They continue play a major role in keeping students and their families safe coming out of the pandemic. Nurses from every district in the county are being recognized.

Tompkins Chamber President and CEO Jennifer Tavares is grateful to have this opportunity to thank school nurses from all across the county with this award. “They have no doubt taken on so much additional work, dealt with numerous regulations and so much uncertainty – all while trying to support our children and their caregivers”, said Tavares.

To demonstrate appreciation for these winners, the school nurses were awarded a Community Hero of the Month plaque and thank you cookies made by Creative Sweets from Tompkins Trust Company.
