ITHACA, N.Y. (WHCU) — The Tompkins County district attorney will not investigate an IPD whistleblower.

The Ithaca Voice reports Matt Van Houten has declined to identify the person, saying no crime was committed. In a statement to WHCU, Van Houten further added there are no allegations of a crime against the whistleblower.

The unknown individual filed a complaint with state police that three Ithaca Police officers committed overtime fraud. An investigation cleared former Acting Chief John Joly and lieutenants David Amaro and Jacob Young of wrongdoing.

IPD’s union requested the DA investigate the person and their motivations, but Van Houten says they don’t look into whistleblowers.
