ITHACA, N.Y. (WHCU) – New York State Police are investigating a fatal crash in Ithaca.

Troopers responded to a three-vehicle collision around 7:40 p.m. Wednesday, April 12, 2023, in the 800 block of Elmira Road. Officials say a 2020 Ford Explorer traveling south “failed to maintain its lane,” and struck a 2015 Honda Fit that was pulled over. The Ford then entered the northbound lane and hit a 2007 Lexus.

Both the driver of the Lexus and the Ford Explorer were airlifted to a regional trauma center. The operator of the Ford was identified as Kathy Fox, of Newfield. Fox died from her injuries Thursday, April 13, 2023. The operator of the Lexus is in stable condition.

The occupants of the Honda Fit were uninjured. The investigation is ongoing.
