DANNEMORA (AP) — Two killers on the loose from a New York prison for three weeks disagreed over whether to hole up in hunting cabin, with one worried about being captured and the other suggesting they could kill or take hostage anyone who checked in on the remote camp.

State Police Major Charles Guess told the Press-Republican of Plattsburgh that David Sweat and Richard Matt spent two or three nights at the northern New York cabin two weeks after their June 6th escape from the maximum-security Clinton Correctional Facility.

Guess said Matt wanted to stay at the cabin 30 miles west of the prison because the place had alcohol, heat and water. Sweat wanted to leave before someone discovered them.

They fled June 20 with an unloaded shotgun after a man showed up to check on the cabin.
