A 31-year-old Pennsylvania man who lit himself on fire on I-86 in Horseheads last week remains hospitalized.
And, according to WENY-TV, prosecutors outside of Philadelphia say he’s accused of attempting to stab a friend with a sword.
According to a criminal complaint, police in Pennsylvania responded Friday to a report of an assault. They say Darren Desruisseaux knocked on a man’s door, and when the man opened it, Desruisseaux allegedly threatened him and pulled out a sword that was five feet long.
According to police, the man was able to close the door before Desruisseaux swung the sword.
Hours later, A Chemung County Sheriff’s Deputy stopped Desruisseaux for speeding on I-86. Investigators say after checking his driver’s license, the deputy learned Desruisseaux was wanted for attempted murder.
That’s when Desruisseaux locked himself inside his vehicle and used a can of gasoline to set himself on fire.
He was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester.
