One of the most recognizable mixed martial artists in the world is pushing for New York to make the sport legal.

Ronda Rousey, an undefeated MMA fighter and women’s champion, met with Governor Andrew Cuomo on Monday. She says Cuomo was extremely welcoming and a cool guy to be around.

She says Cuomo expressed his support for the legislation to legalize the sport, and reports indicateĀ the governor would sign a bill to legalize itĀ if lawmakers give their approval.

The Republican-controlled Senate is expected to vote again this week to allow for the sport to be legalized.

The Democrat-controlled Assembly remains the challenge.
