Frustrated residents in a neighborhood in Lansing are asking town officials to do more to prevent flooding.
At a town board meeting this week, residents in the Autumn Ridge neighborhood demanded the town fix the flooding problem, but Town Attorney Guy Krogh questioned the legality of using taxpayer dollars to fix a problem on private property, according to the Lansing Star Online.
Last year, some residents in the Autumn Ridge neighborhood had several inches of water in their basements and damage to their yards.
It’s an issue that has divided the neighborhood.
Last August, one resident tried to have Highway Superintendent Jack French arrested for trespassing on his property.
French was looking to inspect problems caused by things like flooding.
Town Attorney Guy Krogh said over the years, a lot of residents have invested in ditches and stone walls, and that other neighbors accuse them of causing flooding on their properties.
