ITHACA, N.Y. (WHCU) – Cornell University could be the site of a conference wrestling tournament in the future.

The Ivy League has announced the formation of its own postseason tournament starting in the 2024-2025 academic year. The six schools with wrestling teams will no longer wrestle in the Eastern Intercollegiate Wrestling Association at the end of the season to determine automatic bids into the NCAA Tournament.

With three Ivy League wrestlers crowned national champions last year, two of which came from the Big Red, officials say they want to showcase the ‘sustained national strength’ of Ivy League wrestling. The first tournament is set for Princeton in March 2025. The future site and rotation of the tournament will be determined at a later date.
