ITHACA, N.Y. (WHCU) — A budget worth over $158 million for the Ithaca City School District goes to voters in six days.

Doctor Luvelle Brown is the district’s superintendent. Tuesday on Ithaca’s Morning News, he explained what the proposal means for tax rates.

The 2023 to 2024 budget proposal marks an increase of roughly 6.5% over the current academic year. Brown says there are a few factors.

Brown adds inflation is another reason for the budget increase. Polls for Tuesday’s school budget vote in Ithaca will be open from noon to nine o’clock.
