Groups interested in bidding for a single available casino license in New York’s Southern Tier are up against a deadline.
Monday is the last day developers can submit their ideas to state gambling regulators.
So far only one group — the Tioga Downs racino outside of Binghamton — has filed an application.
Once the deadline has passed a state panel will review the proposals and recommend a winner. The decision is expected in the fall.
Last year the panel selected proposals for casinos in the Finger Lakes, Catskills and Schenectady. A fourth available casino license was initially withheld.
Bidding was reopened for proposals from the Southern Tier after local leaders complained that the economically struggling region had been left out.
