Tuition will climb once again at Cornell for the next school year.
University officials said Thursday that factoring in room, board, and fees, the total cost of attendance for out-of-state students will go up to $62,744, from $60,914 this year. That’s a three percent increase over the current school year.
For in-state residents, the total bill climbs to $46,604, a more than four percent increase over the current school year.
Tuition itself will increase by $1,830 for undergrads.
The school says for the sixth straight year, graduate research tuition in Ithaca will see no increase next year.
“Keeping the rise in tuition to below 4 percent for most undergraduates reflects our best efforts to be fiscally responsible while assuring a rich and complex undergraduate education and experience,” interim Provost Harry Katz said in a statement Thursday.
The university says mandatory student activity fees are remaining flat, as are undergraduate housing and dining costs. However, the school has come under some criticism in recent weeks after announcing the implementation of a mandatory $350 student health fee for students who don’t enroll in the university’s health insurance plan.
