CORTLAND — Another K9 unit in upstate New York has been given a vest for its dog, this time in Cortland County.

Massachusetts non-profit Vested Interest in K9s had awarded the Ithaca Police Department’s K9 Bert with a bullet and stab-proof vest back in July. Now it’s given a similar vest to Fredy, a K9 with the Cortland County Sheriff’s Department.

According to the Sheriff’s Department, the vest was sponsored by Kristen Miller of Falcon, Colorado. Fredy’s vest will be embroidered with the words “Be safe my hero.”
