Ithaca, NY (WHCU) – James A. Weeks Professor of Physical Sciences at Cornell University Steve Squyres has decided to retire from the learning institution September 22nd.
Among Squyres many accomplishments are teaching astronomy, conducting research, and chaperoning two Mars rovers on their 300 million-mile journey from Earth to the Red Planet. He next plans to become the chief scientist for private aerospace company Blue Origin.
In a statement Squyres says Cornell’s been a wonderful place for him both as a student and professor. He adds with the Mars rover missions over, it’s time for him to find a new challenge.
