ROCHESTER — A Cornell University student charged with the murder of his own father goes on trial today in the Rochester area.
Charles Tan was charged in the February shooting of his 49-year-old father in the family’s suburban Rochester home.
Tan’s attorneys have said there was a lengthy history of domestic violence inside the home by the father.
Prosecutors say Tan had a friend buy the gun he used to shoot his dad.
Charles Tan was a sophomore at Cornell in the college of Ag and Life Sciences at the time of the incident.
