ITHACA, N.Y. (WHCU) – The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation has issued an air quality advisory for Central New York, Western New York, and Eastern Lake Ontario.

The advisory includes Tompkins, Cortland, and Tioga Counties. It begins at midnight tonight and lasts until 11:59 p.m. on Wednesday, June 28, 2023. The air quality index is expected to rate over 100 for fine particulates, which puts it at the moderate level. Health officials recommend limiting strenuous outdoor activity, particularly for high-risk groups. Earlier this month, the AQI reached hazardous levels above 400.
