ITHACA, N.Y. (WHCU) – Local kids from a 12U hockey team in Ithaca are now State Champions.
The Finger Lakes Regional Hockey Association announced the Central Outlaws hockey team won the Tier III New York State Hockey Championship this past Sunday in the 12 and under division. The team’s win at Niagara University capped off their impressive 26-3-0 season, which included winning tournament championships in Pittsburgh and Philadelphia, PA this year.

Coaches have prided the team’s success on practice and the kids dedication towards studying the game. Head Coach Russell Johnson had this to say about the team,
“This season was about a lot more than hockey. It was about hard work, commitment, and ‘staying the course’ in an uncertain time. The Association would like to thank all the partners involved including: coaches, parents, Tompkins County Health Department, school teachers, but especially the players: the season was about you and you did tremendous. What a season – Congratulations!!”
