AC/DC’S BRIAN JOHNSON INTERVIEWS ROGER DALTREY, ROBERT PLANT, & METALLICA FOR NEW TV SHOW
AC/DC’s Brian Johnson is the host of the Sky Arts channel’s new six-part series, Brian Johnson’s Life On The Road. The show will feature Johnson interviewing such icons as the Who’s Roger Daltrey, Sting, Metallica’s Lars Ulrich, Pink Floyd’s Nick Mason, Def Leppard’s Joe Elliott, and Led Zeppelin’s Robert Plant. Blabbermouth reported, “Johnson lifts the lid on the stark realities of life on tour, from the wearying hard graft and sleepless nights to the electrifying thrill of performing on stage at iconic venues in front of sell-out crowds around the world.”
In each episode, Johnson visits each musician in a spot near and dear to them, including — Roger Daltrey outside the house he grew up in, in Shepherd’s Bush, London; Lars Ulrich in Metallica’s San Rafael, California headquarters; Nick Mason at his private car collection in the Cotswolds, a rural section of South Central England; with Sting in New York City, traveling downtown in downtown “in a Ford Econoline van — the same van the Police used to drive around the USA on their debut tour”; Joe Elliott in his local Dublin bar, The Porterhouse; and finally Robert Plant in a spot TBA.
PREVIOUSLY UNRELEASED EDDIE VAN HALEN TRACK SURFACES
A previously unreleased Eddie Van Halen track titled “Strike” has been posted online in full for what is reportedly the first time. According to Van Halen News Desk, only a snippet of the song was heard in 1984 when it was part of the soundtrack to a movie called The Wild Life. Eddie Van Halen composed the score for the film and VHND will release most of the music from it in the coming weeks.
The tracks are all full pieces of music that Van Halen recorded for the movie before they were edited down as part of the score.
Other tracks from the score that have already been released include “Out The Window,“ “Top Down,” “Back To School,” “(Nearly) Good Enough,” “All Fired Up,” “Peeping Tom,” “Fashion Dynasty,” “Love Song” and “Driving Song.”
The Wild Life was a teen comedy that starred Eric Stoltz and the late Chris Penn.
Van Halen last toured in 2013 in support of its album from the previous year, A Different Kind Of Truth. The band has now shown any signs of activity since then.
PETER FRAMPTON CALLS ‘RAW’ TOUR A MIXTURE OF ‘UNPLUGGED’ AND ‘STORYTELLERS’
Peter Frampton is clearly enjoying his ongoing “Raw” acoustic tour — with his fourth leg thrilling fans for its scaled back musicality and the chance to spend the evening with the beloved guitar icon. Frampton spoke about the shows to MLive.com, explaining, “I never thought I would ever talk about doing an acoustic tour, the thought was paralyzing. It’s such an enjoyable evening. Basically it’s (MTV’s) Storytellers meets Unplugged. I choose numbers that everyone knows, some deeper cuts, and a new one here and there. It’s a complete journey through my career. . . It’s like I’m on the couch for two-and-a-half hours. It’s my life story.”
Out now is Frampton’s latest album, Acoustic Classics. The set features new stripped down versions of favorites from his first five studio sets, including one new tune, called “All Down To Me.” Frampton covers key tracks from his early A&M albums including “Fig Tree Bay” “All I Want To Be (Is By Your Side)” and the title track from his 1972 debut Wind Of Change, “Lines On My Face” and “Do You Feel Like We Do?” from 1973’s Frampton’s Camel, “Sail Away” from 1974’s Somethin’s Happening, “Show Me The Way” and “Baby, I Love Your Way” from 1975’s Frampton, and the title track to 1977’s I’m In You.

HARRISON FORD WILL GET TO KEEP HIS PILOT’S LICENSE: Harrison Ford will face no further action after his near miss with a commercial plane earlier this year, and will get to keep his pilot’s license, the FAA confirmed. The incident, which happened at John Wayne Airport in Orange County, California on February 13th, saw Ford mistakenly land his plane on the taxiway, rather than the runway. Ford flew directly over the top of an American Airlines plane carrying 110 passengers before landing. This wasn’t the first time the actor was involved in an aviation-related incident. Ford suffered injuries in 2015 after was forced to land a two-seat vintage WWI plane after its engine failed. He tipped a treetop and skidded onto a golf course in Santa Monica, California. In 2000, Ford reportedly slid off the runway while landing a plane in Lincoln, Nebraska. A year before, he made a hard emergency landing in a California riverbed while flying a helicopter with a flight instructor.

NORTH CAROLINA DOWNS GONZAGA 71-65 TO WIN NCAA BASKETBALL TITLE: North Carolina defeated Gonzaga 71-65 last night (April 3rd) in Arizona to win the men’s NCAA basketball title for the sixth time and deny the Bulldogs their first championship. Tar Heels junior guard Joel Berry II, who scored 22 points and had six assists in the title game, was named the most outstanding player of the Final Four. The two Number 1 teams competed in a game that had fans of both sides booing the referees, who called 27 fouls in the second half.
FAKE SUGAR IS MAKING YOU FAT: According to new research, low-calorie, artificial sweetener appears to be wreaking havoc on the body’s metabolism. The findings are also suggesting that large consumption of these sugar substitutes could promote fat accumulation, especially in people who are already obese. The study’s principal investigator, Sabyasachi Sen, M.D., said, “Many health conscious individuals like to consume low-calorie sweeteners as an alternative to sugar. However, there is increasing scientific evidence that these sweeteners promote metabolic dysfunction.” The results signified signs of metabolic dysregulation in which the cellular mechinisms are changing to make more fat. Sen said, “From our study, we believe that low-calorie sweeteners promote additional fat formation by allowing more glucose to enter the cells, and promotes inflammation, which may be more detrimental in obese individuals.” (EurekaAlert!)
