CHECK IT OUT: The Who in 1979 rehearsing “Sister Disco” live at London’s Shepperton Film studios.

FYI:

As the Who prep to once again to hit the road in North America, Roger Daltrey talked frankly about the band and age catching up with them. The Who kicks off their North American dates on April 15th in Tampa, Florida at Amalie Arena. Daltrey explained that over 50 years since he asked Pete Townshend to join his band, the more things change, the more they stay the same, revealing to London’s The Express, “I don’t think my relationship with Pete has really ever changed. You’ve got the rivalry between two males, when it begun we were testosterone-charged youths, and you know any two dominant males lock horns now and again but underneath it there’s that deep camaraderie and respect. And that deep understanding is still there more than ever. And I think he’s come to respect what I did for the band in other ways than his writing. The Who are a lot more than the sum of his music.”

Daltrey, who has battled vocal issues over the past decade, has long admitted that life on tour takes its toll — especially you have to perform the type of show the Who has committed to: “This is a circus. We’re 70 years old. We don’t know how long it will go on for, it could be another 18 months but that will be it. I’ve got to the point where I’m having physical problems with my body now, joints going and all that. I had to see a Dutch bone mason the other day, he came with a hammer and chisel to hammer my bloody shoulder back into place. I’m really fit but I’ve had so many car crashes and accidents and falls over the years that they all take their toll. Everything from the past catches up.”
