I -100 Rocks, WIII-FM Cortland/Ithaca adds Bob & Tom Show

Kat Walters adds expanded on-air role

(Ithaca, NY) – The Bob and Tom Show hits the airwaves on Ithaca/Cortland’s iconic rock stations- WIII-FM (99.9, 100.3 FM) starting on January 11, 2016. The popular morning radio show currently airs regionally in Syracuse, Elmira, Utica, and Geneva, and will be making listeners laugh in Ithaca starting next week. Current morning host Kat Walters moves to a bigger on air shift in Middays.

“We are really excited about these significant enhancements to our great radio station I-100,” said VP/GM Chet Osadchey. “The Bob & Tom Show is legendary. It’s a five time Marconi Award winning show with multiple Billboard awards and Radio & Record awards for Personalities of the Year…it is an iconic show that is a proven winner in New York State and an awesome fit with the Rock format.”

In addition to bringing the Bob & Tom Show to mornings, WIII-FM is promoting Kat Walters to station Brand Manager. Walters will pick up the key “at work” shift of 11a-5p on Weekdays. “Kat has developed a great personal and professional understanding of the rock format,” said Cayuga Radio Group Operations Manager Chris Allinger. “She has excellent rapport with the listening audience. This move gives Kat the ability to program the music and imaging of I-100 with more listener feedback while directly connecting with our listeners at work. The morning commute times in our region are secondary to the time the rock listener is spending with the station at work. Kat essentially gets our audience through the day”.

“I am excited to take this station to the next level. Rock music continues to grow in popularity. The music I play isn’t just on the radio. It’s all over TV commercials, it’s on video game soundtracks, in NFL stadiums, and new generations of my audience are being exposed to these great rock bands through many different forms of media technology.” said Walters. “I know the rock format incredibly well. I talk to thousands of listeners each and every week, and rock music is an essential part of the fabric of their lives. My job is much more than just playing the music. It’s talking about it, educating our listeners on the stories ‘behind the music’ and reminding them each and every day that this material is and always will be timeless and relevant.”
