Rick Wakeman will not attend yes’ rock hall induction

Former Yes keyboardist Rick Wakeman will not be on hand at the band’s Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony next April when the prog legends finally receive their long awaited honor. Wakeman, who now tours with fellow Yes members Jon Anderson and Trevor Rabin as Anderson, Rabin, Wakeman (AWR), served in five distinct stands in Yes: 1971-1974, 1976-1980, 1990-1992, 1995-1996, and 2002-2004.

Wakeman spoke about the Rock Hall during a Q&A session on his official website (rwcc.com), and was asked if he was pleased at Yes being inducted, answering, “Well I would have been if it had happened years ago when it was really well deserved. I find it hard to come to terms with the fact that so many bands are inducted into the Hall of Fame too late in their careers after key members have passed away. Classic examples are the Who and John Entwhistle (sic), Deep Purple and Jon Lord and now YES and there will be no Chris Squire.”

This year’s song of the summer is a ballad, not a banger. Here’s what that says about us

For the past 14 weeks and counting, the top Billboard spot has been held by a love ballad: Alex Warren's "Ordinary." As Berklee College of Music professor and forensic musicologist Joe Bennett notes, the February release is "a fair bit slower than the mean average for the Hot 100, or for a historical song of the summer."
