GREGG ALLMAN GETS ‘CLEAN BILL OF HEALTH’, RETURNING TO THE ROAD
Although the details of his illness and surgery have yet to be revealed, Gregg Allman will be back on the road in just over two weeks. Allman will return to the stage on September 25th at Morrison, Colorado’s Red Rocks Amphitheatre. Pollstar reported that the show, which is part of Allman’s traveling Laid Back Festival, will feature him playing an acoustic set with lead guitarist and music director Scott Sharrard before headliners ZZ Top. The show will also feature sets by the Richie Furay Band, Jaimoe’s Jasssz Band, Gabriel Kelley, Lucie Silvas, and Levon & People’s Blues Of Richmond.

Allman posted on his website (GreggAllman.com): “I just can’t wait to get back out there. I’ve gotten so stir crazy these last few weeks. I feel best when I’m traveling and playing. That’s what keeps me going, and there’s no better place to start than Red Rocks.” A spokesperson for Allman would not specify what had been ailing Allman, saying only that he has received “a clean bill of health from his doctors and has been given the OK to get back to performing live”.
•Allman’s website updated fans on his touring plans, stating: “Allman’s performance at Laid Back Red Rocks will be his only performance of summer 2016. After that, he’ll appear at Laid Back Atlanta on October 29th and the 10 rare and intimate club dates for his annual residency at City Winery in New York beginning November 6th.”
