CHECK IT OUT: The Faces on June 4th, 1973 performing “Borstal Boys” live in London:

FYI:

KENNEY JONES CREDITS THE SOUND OF THE FACES TO RON WOOD’S GUITAR
Drummer Kenney Jones credits the sound of the Faces to the band rallying around Ron Wood while he developed his distinctive guitar style. Newly released is You Can Make Me Dance, Sing Or Anything (1970-1975), the band’s latest box set, which features newly remastered versions of all four of the Faces’ studio albums, plus a bonus disc of rarities. The collection includes The First Step (1970), Long Player (1971), A Nod Is As Good As A Wink. . . To A Blind Horse (1971), and Ooh La La (1973). All the albums feature unreleased bonus tracks recorded in conjunction with each set.

Kenney Jones told us that the Faces’ sound came about due to Ron Wood reinventing himself as a musician: “When we first got together, Ronnie was learning how to play lead guitar. He was — and still is — a fantastic bass player. So, for him to convert from bass, it was a bit tricky, so we were with him every inch of the way when he did it. So, we were kind of learning his style along with him. So that really was a benefit to all of us — especially me.”
•The surviving Faces — Jones, Wood and Rod Stewart — will reunite on (Saturday night) September 5th to play a show benefiting Prostate Cancer UK. The concert, which is dubbed “Rock ‘n’ Horsepower” will once again be held in Surrey, England at Hurtwood Park Polo Club. At last year’s event, Kenney Jones performed with Roger Daltrey and Pete Townshend for the first time since his final Who gig on February 8th, 1988. Jones is the catalyst once again, having recently battled prostate cancer.
